Company Tachograph Card

COMPANY DIGITAL TACHOGRAPH CARD [1] is used to download data from digital tachographs (also known as a Vehicle Unit or VU). Majority of Operator’s Licence holders will be required to use a tachograph [2].  This should not be mistaken with a DRIVER DIGITAL TACHOGRAPH CARD [3].

When the ownership of a vehicle changes or a vehicle is rented the operator is responsible for the tachograph data; downloading, storing and analysing it. To do so an operator must lock in the company card when they take possession of the vehicle.

In most cases, when purchasing a new vehicle, the dealer will take care of this when the vehicle is delivered to the next owner. However, this does not always take place, particularly with rental vehicles.

Furthermore, when the vehicle is returned to the rental company or sold, the company card needs to be locked out.
